Frankfurt am main, 31. August 2009 – sounds great: the new fiat punto is called evo, which stands for evolution or old-newgerman facelift. After all, the punto evo has more new technical features than the rather familiar-looking evo would suggest, such as a rather bold engine technology with which fiat wants to make gasoline engines more efficient than before. The evolutionary punto will be on display at the iaa in just under three weeks, from 17. To 27. September 2009 in frankfurt.
A little rougher and beefier
According to fiat, the front and rear of the punto have been "completely redesigned". The visual appearance appears chunkier and wider. The punto is also three centimeters longer and now comes to 4.06 meters. Width (1.69 meters), height (1.49 meters) and wheelbase (2.51 meters) remain unchanged. The cornering light is a new optional feature: this illuminates a tight bend better when turning in by switching on the fog light inside the bend; this function was first available on the new seat ibiza, by the way. Inside, the instrumentthe interior has been redesigned and the seats are also new. Additional storage compartments to increase comfort.
Seven airbags and esp as standard
Seven airbags are fitted as standard in the punto evo to ensure occupant safety – a driver’s knee airbag is also included. Esp is also always on board. And for steep ramps or real mountains, there is a hill-starting aid that maintains the brake prere for a short time after the brake is released on the slope, here too the ibiza was a pioneer. For entertainment and navigation fiat has cooperated with the dutch navigation specialist tomtom. The result is a further developed blueme, in which the navigation, hands-free system and entertainment functions can be operated via a removable touchscreen.
